The global automotive news scene has been enriched by a major debut: the French brand has unveiled the Niagara production pickup truck, designed specifically for Latin American markets. This model is the first in the brand’s ambitious futuREady strategy and combines the practicality of a pickup truck with the comfort of a modern crossover. Production will be set up at a plant in Argentina, and the primary buyers will be residents of Brazil, Argentina, and Colombia.
Renault's strategy calls for the launch of 14 new models outside Europe by the end of the decade. The company aims to make export markets on par with European ones, so the new model will eventually be equipped with a hybrid powertrain in addition to gasoline versions.
Design, Dimensions, and Interior
The car’s exterior features a rugged off-road style: the high hood, massive radiator grille bearing the brand name, and protective body kit immediately catch the eye. The body length ranges from 4.91 to 4.94 meters depending on the drivetrain, and the ground clearance reaches an impressive 233 mm in the 4×4 version.
Inside, the driver is greeted by an ecosystem familiar from the brand’s latest crossovers:

Integrated Google services and a voice assistant;
Ambient interior lighting and wireless charging.
For passenger comfort, the rear seats feature adjustable backrest angles, and there is a hidden 36-liter storage compartment under the seats. The suite of electronic driver-assistance features includes adaptive cruise control, an automatic braking system, and a surround-view camera system.
Technical Specifications and Platform Capabilities
The model is based on a specially adapted version of the Renault Group Modular Platform. Under the hood is a 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 156 k.s. in the front-wheel-drive version and 163 k.s. in the all-wheel-drive version. Torque is 270 Nm in both cases.
Two types of transmissions are available: manual or preselective automatic. All-wheel-drive models are equipped with a drive mode selector that optimizes traction for mud or off-road conditions. The new multi-link rear suspension reduces body roll by 30%, ensuring a comfortable ride on rough roads.
The 938-liter cargo area allows for the transport of up to 654 kg of payload, making this vehicle a reliable companion for work and travel.
